Awesome Childhood Movies That I Had Totally Forgotten: “The Mighty Ducks”

These are some of the most fantastic movies ever.  All three of them.  I don’t care how much flack “D3” has received.  It has lessons about life.  Also, it’s kind of awesome that the guy on whom I had a crush as a kid, Charlie (Joshua Jackson), I now have a crush on the adult version now.

1.  “The Mighty Ducks” (1992)

Awesome movie.  Awesome kids.  Awesome hockey.  Also, Emilio Estevez.  It makes me wish that I was capable of ice skating more than 20 feet without falling down.  It also makes me wish that, when I had skated frequently as a child, I had had pads to wear.  It would have saved me many a bruise.

2.  “D2:  The Mighty Ducks 2”

Go USA!  The Ducks are somehow allowed to be imported into Team USA, with the addition of Kenan and that kid who played Benny from “The Sandlot.”  And these are the things that I learned.

1.  Teamwork is awesome!

2.  You should always welcome new friends!

3.  Playing street hockey will always revive the spirit of ice hockey.

Also:  Iceland is apparently full of assholes.  Yay for “D2”!

3.  “D3:  The Mighty Ducks 3”

Not the world’s most popular of the three.  Of course, it is kind of unrealistic that Team USA and the triumphant Ducks of the first two movies are dominated by a high school varsity team, but, if you except the first two movies and focus on the characters, “D3” isn’t too bad.  Also, not too much Emilio Estevez.  Which is fine with me.

Best trilogy ever!

Well, one of the best trilogies.  Best childhood trilogy.  And I  really want to go watch them right now.
